Pushing 40 now, seems like the weight isn't coming off like it did in my 20's.

Was curious what most of you eat calorie wise per day, I get a different answers from all types of people.

I'm 5'11 around 260 wanna get down to 200. The weight to Hight says I'm obese, I would beg to differ as I hold a good amount of muscle.

I was thinking 2,000 Calories a Day would be a good start, seems low compared to what I have been doing, binge eating around 4,000 to 5,000 Calories a day.

Thanks for any advice.

If you want to lose weight quick eat 1500 calories with exercise
Eat the right foods though
DO NOT go below that
Low is good but their is a limit
But i guess you could start off at 2000

The amount of time you have to spend working out to burn off even small amounts of calories is crazy. If you have a job, family and such it isn't easy.
So, yeah ....diet is everything
Even eating a couple hundred calories more than you should can cause many to gain weight

I was thinking 1500 Calories, more plant based.

Funny how when young you wanna be big and intimidating and as you age, you wanna be smaller and healthier.

Looks like I'm gonna try 1500 Calories, so much for those delicious 200 calorie IPA Beers.

Put in your goals and follow them. Its very good as you dont realize how much junk you eat

Note: A chicken tender sub is NOT good for this diet :)

If your trying to lose weight you should be lifting weights 3-4 times per week.

Eat a high protein diet for recovery

Do cardio 5-6 days per week separate from your weight lifting session. If you lift weights during the day do cardio at night. Even a walk around the neighborhood counts as cardio it doesn't have to be on a treadmill

Limit junk food

Don't eat right before bed as it will not be metabolized. It will turn to fat

At 260 lbs you should be able to lose the first 30-40 lbs pretty easy but the last 30 lbs might be stubborn

Intermittent fasting. Plus if you try to incorporate keto with it you will lose weight.

I do the 8/16.

I am 5'9 and peak weight was 210 about eight yrs ago

Reduced to the low 190s for about five yrs and past two have been 175-180

Consume avg 2500-3000 calories a day

Drink copious amounts of water, avg about six quarts a day

Walk an average of about 50 miles weekly, between 5 to 10 daily which takes about 90-120min

BP steady 120/85, resting pulse rate of about 52 which I can lower to about 40 when meditating

My GP sez my blood and vitals resemble a man 15 yrs younger than my age 62

Take absolutely none of it for granted...thank the Universe multiple times daily for another 5 minutes

Intermittent fasting, keto, fasting, this and that - it's all good but at the end of the day the only thing that matters at all is calories in versus calories out - I too binge eat too often

Eat and drink whatever you want, then get a job where you sit down all day and talk on the telephone a lot

You'll never have to worry about your weight again

Chasing down bad guys in Hawaii you would think would burn some quality calories. Maybe limit beer and increase sex…works for me.

It’s all calories really. Count calories and do some sort of exercise to supplement the times you stray as wel as push things along. The other diets work fine at first but once you go back to normal it all falls apart.

any calorie diet is just teaching you what is good and what is bad so when you stop hard dieting you remember to not shove a gallong of ice cream with a bag of hi-chews after your olive garden and beers.

good luck

I would focus on changing parts of your diet instead of calories in. It would be much more sustainable. For example cuting soda out of your diet, having a salad with every dinner, eating a protein bar instead of cereal, fruit for dessert and not ice cream, eat more vegetables, etc.

You can also intermittent fast. The main thing is not overeating when you break the fast. Start off by skipping breakfast or dinner. That gets you to 12 hours and work your way up from there. I do 18 hour fasts pretty regularly. Do some of the things I mentioned above and be more active and you'll start losing 1-2 pounds per week. It will be much more sustainable than calorie cutting or some sort of food restricted diet.
